Trump Didn't Invent The Idea of Banning Immigration From Countries Rife With Terrorism

Trump is not extreme in wanting a temporary pause on immigration from countries rife with extreme Islamic terrorism. Putting a temporary ban on immigration (also known as a moratorium) has long been practiced in the US. That's where Trump got the idea to begin with: the fact that our federal government, as well as different state governments have implemented these bans at different times. Trump didn't invent the idea of a temporary ban on immigration. If you thought that this was Trump's unique idea, you're probably letting the dishonest main stream media (or News TV) pump your brain full of idiocy.

The last six presidents have implemented these bans for different purposes. President Obama has implemented bans multiple times without a peep from anyone. President G. W. Bush implemented bans against certain government officials and public officials that may have been bribed to work against US interests. President Bill Clinton banned military members, and their family members, from Sierra Leone and Haiti. (I know what you're thinking: it seems the Clintons really don't like regular Haitian people. They only get along well with Haitian elite.)

Most notably, President Carter issued a ban on immigration from Iran when it was under terrorist control. This is very similar to what Trump proposes. President Carter didn't just freeze immigration from Iran, but also invalidated any visas that had already been issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the US. He didn't just do that, he also deported many Iranians from the US.

Yes, it's lawful to put a ban on immigration. See section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952.

When we can't properly vet incoming immigrants, and the FBI has already warned that terrorists will slip in via countries rife with terrorism (these are also known as Islamic/Muslim countries, but I understand that many Americans like to pretend that they're not), the only logical solution to ensure the safety of Americans is the solution that has worked before: freeze immigration from such countries until we have a system in place to properly vet immigrants.

Low-information voters are giving way too much credit to Donald Trump for the idea of banning immigration from Islamic/Muslim countries.
